About 1837, Daniel McCook erected this large brick house on the southwest corner of the public square in Carrollton, and it was occupied by his family until 1848. It was acquired by the state of Ohio in November 1941 and dedicated on October 10, 1947, as a memorial to the gallant “Fighting McCooks.”
