Description

The Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion was built between 1859-1862 by Alabama State Senator Robert Jemison. The house was built in the Italianate syle and features a columned wrap-around porch and all-glass belvedere. Inside, the house features four formal parlors, a two-story conservatory, and a built-in copper bathtub with running hot and cold water. The mansion was an architectural and technological marvel in its time. It has been lovingly restored to its 1862 state with original carpet patterns, moldings, and wood grains.
