Description

The Davis-Horton House is the oldest building in downtown San Diego, built in 1850. The Saltbox style house was shipped from Portland, Maine to San Diego, which had little wood for construction. The House has a storied history having been Officers quarters pre-Civil War, a hospital, the only surviving home of Alonzo Horton, a boarding house, and even a hide out for a German Spy! The House was fully restored in the 1980s and now each room works to tell a story of the houses history. Self-guided and audio tours are available Tuesday-Sunday and Walking Tours are held Thursday and Saturday. Ghosts tours are also available.
